Kentucky's geological setting is prone to Karst activity. This residential property, occupying approximately 6,000 square feet, was condemned by the local jurisdiction due to the collapsed sinkhole. Through partnerships, Solid Ground provided value engineering at an economical cost and construction management services to remediate the sinkhole and lift the condemnation decree. The foundation was engineer designed to bear upon a push pier foundation system. The sinkhole was remediated with a reinforced concrete plug.

Eliminating shrink and swell for the floor slab was a critical. Slope failures are common during long and heavy wet periods in areas of steep topography. Solid Ground was contacted to provide recommendations for an unstable slope exhibiting extreme movement with noticeable tension cracking spanning a distance of over 200 feet.
